Linux Server Security

Are you worried about your server being hacked? Too busy to take care of routine maintenance and security checks?

I can offer the following a method to track all login attempts such as and not limited to:

  • SSH
  • SFTP
  • WEB LOGINS (NextPost, WordPress, etc)
  • MySQL

Your server will look for failed login attempts, after 3 failed attempts if blocks the users IP for 1 hour.

After 1 hour the user can attempt another 3 times, if they fail they get banned for 3 hours.

Lastly, if they fail another 3 times they get banned permanently until you removed their IP.

This method ensures hackers cannot get into your server unless they are VERY VERY VERY LUCKY.

To put it in perspective, a rainbow/dictionary brute force attack can launch 60+ login attempts within a minute with one single IP.

With my method in place, they are forced to 9 attempts in a span of 5 hours before they need to CHANGE their IP to try and hack you again. This makes it SUPER difficult for anybody to hack into your server.

  • Protect your server from constant attacks
  • Rest assured you are protected at all times
